Collin Morikawa has nerves of steel…I’m now convinced. After his
scintillating comeback over Justin Thomas at the Workday Charity
Open last month, there was no question in my mind that he was
amongst the top-10 golfers in the world. But after what we saw on
Sunday at the PGA Championship, chipping in from the fairway
on 14 and driving the green to within 10 feet on 16 (making the
eagle putt) was simply magnificent to watch.
Last week’s first major of 2020 was wonderful to watch…it had all
of the tension and drama mixed with big names on the
leaderboard that makes golf the most underrated sport as I see it.
As much as I enjoy the NHL playoffs and somewhat the NBA’s, I’d
watch a major golf tournament over either any day.
Newcomer (Best Bet Corner) Producer Michael is now 2-for-2 in
picking winners while I also turned my bankroll positive by picking
Morikawa last weekend.
On to the final regular season tournament of 2020, The Wyndham
Championship. Last year it was won by a bomb, J.T. Poston, but I
don’t see that result happening with a number of big names in the
field. And considering two-time 2020 winner Webb Simpson loves
this course (he has a daughter named Wyndham), I suspect he’ll
be among just about everyone’s picks.
Once again the rules for our challenge:
Each week, Harry, Parlay Kid, newcomer Michael (Best Bet
Corner producer) and I will get a simulated $200 to bet…$100 on
golfers to win that week’s tournament and another $100 to be
spread amongst top-5, top-10, top-20, and other prop bets. We’ll
track the progress to see who does the best and whether we can
produce positive ROIs.
