It’s time for the first golf major of the season…in August!? As we all well
know, 2020 has been screwed up for so many reasons…but finally some
normalcy has appeared. We have MLB, NBA, and NHL back…and golf’s
three biggest tournaments (sorry British Open) are set to be played over
the next 90 or so days.
I remember that TPC Harding Park in San Francisco played host to the
WGC Match Play in 2015 – over the same weekend as the Kentucky Derby
(American Pharoah’s 1 st leg of the Triple Crown) and Mayweather-Pacquiao
(The “Fight of the Century” that really wasn’t) so it got lost in the shuffle. It
appears to be a course that favors accurate ball-strikers (then again, which
courses don’t?) but may play more like a U.S. Open than a PGA
Championship in terms of scoring.
Considering Brooks Koepka has won the last two PGAs + finished 2 nd last
weekend in Memphis, everyone has to take him here, right? Either way, I’ll
predict that a golfer among the top-8 betting choices in terms of odds is
your winner…no bomb is likely this week.
Congrats to Producer Michael, the newcomer last week for picking JT as
the winner. All of us had solid weeks…but still The Parlay Kid reigns
supreme.
Once again the rules for our challenge:
Each week, Harry, Parlay Kid, newcomer Michael (Best Bet Corner
producer) and I will get a simulated $200 to bet…$100 on golfers to win
that week’s tournament and another $100 to be spread amongst top-5, top-
10, top-20, and other prop bets. We’ll track the progress to see who does
the best and whether we can produce positive ROIs.
