In the inaugural Best Bet Corner PGA Tour Betting Challenge, neither

Harry nor myself cashed a winning ticket. Fortunately, he was able to

recoup $50 of our imaginary $200 budget with Brooks Koepka withdrawing

from The Travelers Championship for precautionary reasons due to

COVID-19.

I’m not going to lie…I took a look at Dustin Johnson coming off of mild

success at the RBC Heritage but I still didn’t think his game was in good

enough shape to place a win bet on him. Whoops! The biggest surprise of

the weekend to me was Justin Thomas, arguably the favorite (along with

Rory McIlroy) never even being in contention on Thursday and Friday…to

make the cut!

As for this week, Bryson DeChambeau at less than +700 as the

tournament favorite justisn’t a value worth betting though I wouldn’t be

shocked at all if he finally broke through for his first win of 2020. Last year’s

winner of this birdie-filled tournament, (my fellow Arizona Wildcat) Nate

Lashley came at an astronomical price…actually he didn’t even have odds

at some sportsbooks as a Monday qualifier! Only in the second year at

Detroit Golf Club, it’s hard to look at past trends to make any qualified

selections.

This week Harry and I add his fellow Against All Odds companion, The

Parlay Kid to our challenge going forward. Let’s see which one of us can

get on the board this time around.

Once again the rules:

Each week, the contestants will get a simulated $200 to bet…$100 on

golfers to win that week’s tournament and another $100 to be spread

amongst top-5, top-10, and top-20 bets. We’ll track the progress to see

who does the best and whether we can produce positive ROIs.

Here are this week’s plays for the Rocket Mortgage Classic:
