We did it again. Or should I say HE did it again. Yes, Rory McIlroy did win in Charlotte for the 3rd time and by doing so, our expert handicapper, The Parlay Kid, won for the 5th time in 16 weeks. Seriously…what a run! (Congrats also to Harry and me…but we didn’t have nearly as much money on Rory compared to TPK).
For those of you who follow this column fairly often, we hope you’re putting your money on our picks.
Through 16 weeks, if you had invested $1000 per week ($200 x 5) in our picks, your current balance would be $21,930. That’s a return of 37% which is outstanding! Now we have to be honest and thank Parlay Kid, whose return to date is over 150% including picking FIVE winners. He’s without a doubt the eventual champ barring a dramatic reversal from one of us back in the pack.
Now the tour is heading back to Texas for a week before the PGA Championship but this tournament is tricky. Being played at TPC Craig Ranch for the first time, there’s absolutely no tournament history to factor in when making picks. My picks below feature golfers who have played well in 2021 and who also have a Texas background. Remember, the week before The Masters, at the last tournament played in Texas, a Longhorn alum won the Valero Texas Open, Jordan Spieth. Can a similar result happen again this weekend?
Once again the rules: each picker will get a simulated $200 to bet;
$100 of which will be on win bets and another $100 on top-5, top-
10, and top-20 bets only. The kicker this time is that the money can only be spent on a maximum of three golfers in eachcategory. Picking winners has never been so difficult.
