A rough first week for all of our pickers as believe it or not, NONE

of us made a profit, yet only Harry and I finished winless with our

bets.

Back on the mainland, the tour moves to California for The

American Express, formerly a pro-am played on three courses.

This year, the event outside Palm Springs will be played with no

amateurs and only on two courses, including PGA National which

will be the host of three of the four rounds.

With a nice weather outlook, low scores should be aplenty…and

as I found out the hard way in losing to a longshot the other year,

this tournament generally doesn’t go the favorites’ way. For good

measure I threw a longshot winner in there just to see if I can hit

that lottery ticket!

And once again the rules: each picker will get a simulated $200 to

bet; $100 of which will be on win bets and another $100 on top-5,

top-10, and top-20 bets only. The kicker this time is that the

money can only be spent on a maximum of three golfers in each

category. Picking winners has never been so difficult.
