My golf prowess seems to be deteriorating…or at least it feels
that way.
After the COVID-pause last year, I felt like I was picking a golf
winner every 3 weeks. For this exercise, I’m 2/14 and if you
include last week’s debacle of a format + the opening Tournament
of Champions in Hawaii, I’m 2/16. Not good.
So you’re wondering why I’m calling last week’s two man team
competition a debacle? Tell me the last time you played in a two
or four person team format on the course that wasn’t a scramble?
Embrace it PGA Tour! Alternate shot (2 nd and 4 th rounds) is
stupid…make it fun and let’s watch these teams go super low via
a true scramble format!
Good for the Aussies, Cam Smith and Marc Leishman – bad for
those of us, including yours truly that actually bet on the
tournament (against my better judgement).
This week it’s the last stop on the Florida swing and this one is no
joke. The course at Copperhead bites back (pun intended) with
the last few holes known as “The Snake Pit.” With a two-time
defending champion, Paul Casey, don’t be surprised if the big
names, JT and DJ, don’t finish towards the top of the leaderboard
this week.
Once again the rules: each picker will get a simulated $200 to bet;
$100 of which will be on win bets and another $100 on top-5, top-
10, and top-20 bets only. The kicker this time is that the money
can only be spent on a maximum of three golfers in each
category. Picking winners has never been so difficult.
