The NFL draft delivered what everyone across America needed and that’s something relating to sports and the ability to gamble on it. It was a lot of fun with some teams doing better than others. Below is who I felt did the best and the worst with their shot at the draft.
Winners Tampa Bay Buccaneers Tampa Bay got offensive lineman Kristan Wirfs from Iowa with the 13 th overall pick and he was predicted to go possibly fourth overall to the Giants. Wirfs will be exactly what Brady needs to feel just that bit more comfortable in western Florida. The Buccaneers also drafted two quality players from Minnesota. Wide receiver Tyler Johnson had 11 touchdowns and safety Antoine Winfield led the country with 7 picks. Grade A-
Baltimore Ravens The Ravens may have gotten the steal of the draft with the 55 th pick overall, Ohio State’s running back J.K. Dobbins. Dobbins will be an already explosive offense and you can bet he will want everyone to know what they passed up on. With the 92 nd pick they took a speedy receiver Devin Duvernay from Texas who could help out Lamar Jackson. Grade B+
Cleveland Browns Browns fans have to be excited for their first two picks in the draft. They solidified their offensive line with Alabama’s Jedrick Wills. In the second round they got a guy in Grant Delpit who was praised by many before last season as not just the best safety in college football, but the best defensive player in college football. Grade B+
Minnesota Vikings The Vikings traded away disgruntled wide receiver Stefon Diggs to Buffalo and were in need of a wide receiver for Kirk Cousins. After, the Eagles took Reagor with the 21 st pick, Justin Jefferson fell right in their lap. Jefferson had 2400 yards and 24 touchdowns the last two seasons for LSU. Grade B+
Losers Philadelphia Eagles The Eagles really didn’t do QB Carson Wentz any favors. First they passed on standout wide received Justin Jefferson from LSU in favor a much lesser named player in Justin Reagor. Reagor is inexperienced and is only 5’11, meanwhile Jefferson has played top notch competition and stands at 6’3. If that didn’t make Philly fans scratch their heads drafting QB Jalen Hurts did. With Wentz as your guy that seems like a wasted pick for the Eagles. Grade D-
Green Bay Packers Speaking of not doing a QB any favors, the Packers management trading down to get Utah St QB Jordan Love couldn’t have made Aaron Rodgers feel warm inside. I’m still trying to figure out this move when the Packers really need a receiver to help Davonte Adams. Grade C-
