Skins Match

Medalist Golf Club

Hobe South, Florida

Sunday May 17

-190 Rory McIlroy & Dustin Johnson

Versus

+155 Rickie Fowler & Matthew Wolff

We have some bit of golf back and this skins matchup should be a fun watch. This course is a par 72 with 185 total bunkers. It looks and plays a lot like a links course that certainly favors the team of Rory and DJ. This course also has par 5’s on 14 & 15 which you would think would be holes for long drivers like Rory and DJ to try to get to the green in 2 if the pin placement is right. Wolff, who is just 21 years old lifetime in being matched up against Dustin or Rory is winless at 0-10-1. The format for this skins competition is “best ball” on the front 9, and then a modified alternate shot format will be the way the scoring will go on the back 9.

At -190 its difficult not to want to take Rory who is #1 in the world rankings (3rdcurrently in FedEx Cup points) and Dustin who is 5th. Rickie and Matthew have the Oklahoma St bond and they both are California kids but in an event like this overall raw talent will prevail as I have to take Rory and Dustin.

Sunday May 24

-175 Tiger Woods & Peyton Manning

Versus

+150 Phil Mickelson & Tom Brady

This skins game also be the same scoring format as the skins challenge on May 17th. Here we go with Tiger versus Phil and Brady against Manning (again). Now if you recall a couple years back Tiger and Phil went head to head in Las Vegas with the older Mickelson (49 years old to Tiger being 44) coming out on top. He just recently was posting on social media pictures of the trophy and that might be funny, but I still know Tiger’s competitive side and won’t want to lose to Phil again. Apparently, Manning is a little bit better golfer handicap-wise than Brady (Peyton is a 6 with Tom a 8) and I’m going with Tiger to play the best in his home state.

As a golf fan I will watch and also get some laughs (I hope) as we get closer to real events soon. Everyone stay safe and have a blast with some fun golf over the next couple weekends.
